The sun is a primary source of energy. In this view from Strawberry Rock one is overlooking the beginning of a day abundant in photosynthesis.

About Strawberry Rock:

When I first moved to Trinidad I heard two things that fit nicely together. The first is that the land we live on is called "Turtle Rock," or "Turtle Island." Trinidad Head (which is visible in this panorama along the coast) is the 'ear' of the turtle and Strawberry Rock is the 'eye' of the turtle. This makes sense both by their geography and that one can see so well from the top of Strawberry Rock.

The other thing I heard was that the quarry about a mile south of Strawberry Rock used to be "Potato Rock." So you see, the turtle did then have two eyes.
