Ciudad Universitaria is one of the big architectural and cultural jewels of México City due to the big number of research and academic activities that are done there and also because of its fascinating buildings.

The power and the immensity that you can feel in the Rectoria Tower Esplanade, a tower that has murals in its facades (one seen in this panorama) of David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974), as well as the Central Library that has big murals of Juan O'Gorman (1905-1982) gave me enough reasons to take a full panorama at this location for the 2004 spring equinox World Wide Panorama event.

The Central Library at the National Autonomous University of México (U.N.A.M.) was founded on April 5th of 1956 and put to service its collections in order to support the activities of students, teachers, and researchers. The Central Library has an elaborated and fantastic mosaic facade. The facade is made of mosaics of stones of different colors in the windowless walls.

The Library building has a mural on each of its sides. The north one represents our pre-Hispanic past, the south mural (seen on this panorama) shows the Colonial age, the east side has a Contemporaneous topic and finally the west side shows the theme "The University and the Actual México." With these mosaics the library is different from the rest of the buildings in Ciudad Universitaria, with this special Mexican character. Hope you like it.
