With a color temperature of 6,000K, the bridge’s high tech LED lighting looks like daylight in comparison to the golden glow of the traditional high pressure sodium lights. The new state of the art “smart bridge”, with hundreds of sensors continuously monitoring stress, icing, and corrosion, was the first bridge to use LED street lights.

This was shot the first weekend after the new bridge was finished. When I started setting up the river boat had just entered the Lower Saint Anthony Lock from downstream, and by the time I was ready to start shooting the lock had filled and the boat was leaving.

I have other aerial and ground level panoramas of the new bridge and the collapsed bridge on my website at: http://BigEyeInTheSky.com/?CID=35W

Warning! Don't try shooting here yourself! An indignant cop showed up just as I finished and wrote me a ticket and gave me an angry 20 minute pedestrian safety lecture. You don't want to run into her - she's kind of "excitable", the type who can't simply say "You're not allowed to walk on the bridge", she SCREAMS every word she says: "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU"RE DOING??!! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE???!! NOW I HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME WRITING YOU A CITATION!!"

I think it's great having cops to protect me, put it sucks when they decide they’re going to protect me from myself – and they have a bad attitude.
