This winter has been a bit "thin" in the snow department for those of us on the west coast that have grown accustomed recently to great early-season snowfalls.

Whistler opened "early" (by one day) but in my opinion shouldn't have been open at all. The north shore mountains have been green and brown for many weeks and you would be more likely to see mountain bikes on the cars heading up the road than skis.

Finally the snow came though and we've been able to get out for a number of decent days of skiing. This photo is from my first ski tour of the year, just outside of the Mount Seymour ski area.

I know it was shot a few days before the technical "theme" for those that were subscribing to Don's WWP mission, but this is the symbol that represents the season for me! I'm now looking forward very much to the rest of the season, and have also created a new personal web site to put a bit of pressure on myself to ski as much as I can, and take at least one photo (ideally a panorama) from each day of skiing: http://skiaday.ca
