Driving from the West to the East Coast across Arthurs Pass you pass some spectacular scenery. You can also see it if it is not raining!!

The cave is the start of an underground cavern system which goes through a series of passages, drops and streams where a river changed its course to go underground, reappearing in the next valley.

This can be walked (take the right gear and a good torch), and since it is only about 340 metres in length is not so daunting a prospect for the amateur spi...spi... oh damn, potholer! Watch out for sudden changes in water level.

I liked this as it was a challenge in terms of dynamic range as well as the clouds scudding across the outside changed everything (thanks Pat).

This is part of the country featured in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Equipment
Canon 5D plus 15mm lens, Manfrotto QTVR tripod, used range of ev for HDR conversion.

Photomatix, Photoshop, PTGui, Sweat (work it out)
