Hurricane Sandy left her mark on the Northeast USA as never seen before in this region. The above scene is Fairfield Beach Road in the town of Fairfield where Long Island Sound provides a beachfront for the shoreline homes. Fairfield has been rated in the top 100 "Best Places to Live" in the United States by Money magazine. The scene above was taken 5 days after the storm hit shore.

At this time, access was limited to police, restoration crews and property owners - this was the first day that homeowners could drive the streets, finally cleared of tons of beach sand, to survey the damage to their homes.
