The Cantigas de Santa Maria medieval-era manuscripts were written during the reign of Alfonso X "El Sabio" (1221-1284) and are one of the largest collections of monophonic songs from the middle ages.

Painted on old hardwood, they show typical Hispanic middle age scenes: Andalusian playing chess, Jews in the synagogue, the book written by King Alfonso X the Wise, the royal court, representations of the Virgin Mary and Catholic saints, musicians, jugglers and troubadours, rural landscapes: hunts, grape harvest and wheat harvest ...

By the painter Jose Delgado Espinosa, born April 21, 1948 in Añover de Tajo, Toledo, Spain.
