Caption
The panorama opens looking back along the North wall of the marina, towards Gollan Hill. Rotating to your right you see the boats in the marina itself. There are berths for several hundred boats.

Continuing to the right you see the mouth of the marina, through which a motor boat has just returned. Beyond it on the hill above the sailing boats is Grianan of Aileach , an ancient stone fort.

Next you pass people walking on the western wall and a group of anglers. The anglers are looking towards Inch Island which is connected to the mainland by a causeway.

While I was taking the photographs a group of sailing boats left the marina and headed North up Lough Swilly. A motor boat cut between them as they passed my vantage point.

Looking between the boats, over the X-shaped marker buoy, you can see the town of Rathmullan on the far side of the Lough.

As your glance passes the boats in the foreground, you see more sailing boats off in the distance. At this point you are looking more or less due North. Out between the two headlands is the North Atlantic.

Continuing your rotation you will pass Dunlewy Head on the Eastern shore of the Lough and above it the Urris Hills .

Just before completing your rotation you will catch a glimpse of the outskirts of the town of Buncrana, from where a ferry crosses the Lough to Rathmullan on its Western shore.

The dark hill behind Buncrana is Slieve Snaght and just below it you can see (if you look very closely) some wind turbines for electricity generation.
