I take the theme of sanctuary to mean a "place of refuge or asylum". Growing up in Northern California about a 45-minute drive from the ocean, I've always considered the beach as my sanctuary.
Whether stressed because of school, work, friends, or family, the beach could always help bring me back to my center. The cold wind blowing, the sounds of the waves crashing, or the sea gulls circling overhead, are gentle reminders that there is more to life than whatever problem might be bothering me.
Please enjoy my sanctuary. Take a nap in the tent, go fly a kite, read a book, or just sit and listen to the waves and the wind blowing through the dune grass.
