This picture shows a traditional stamp at this time of year here in Spain. On one side the traditional Nativity Scene, which in this case corresponds to the municipal one in the Glorieta of Elche. On the other side, friends and family that gather together, some coming from different parts of the world, to celebrate Christmas.

The Nativity Scene has been the traditional Christmas decoration: Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus together with the three Wise Men and their presents, given on the 6th of January. Nowadays the Nativity Scene and the Wise Men share protagonism with Christmas trees and Santa Claus gifts on the 25th of December.

Seeing friends and family is also a very important part. After all, the best thing in 2005 was meeting again with all those people that are otherwise difficult to see. In this picture, from left to right: Antonio Zamora-Navarrete (Elche), Susi Díaz-García (Elche), Carmen Zamora-Amorós (Helsinki), José Casal-Giménez (Canterbury, U.K.), Raúl O'Donovan-Soler (Brighton, U.K.), José O'Donovan-Soler (Elche), Mariana Soler-Guirau (Elche) and Antonio Victor Garcia-Serrano (Elche). Sonia Zamora-Amorós (Elche) should have also been here but was ill in bed.

Picture location and production by Antonio V. Garcia-Serrano and Jose O´Donovan-Soler.

Best wishes for the coming year!
