In 1923, two bayans was resettled in Taiwan soil by Hirohito Crown Prince of Japan, nowadays most luxuriant centenary old banyan tree.

Until 1966, this area incorporated into the Cheng Kung University, here beginning for scholar and populace leisure activity location.

2003 NCKU celebrates the banyan tree hundred years old, today Banyan Garden already became one of the famous Tainan sightseeing spot
