This is my favorite panorama of 2009 because it was shot under rather hard conditions. I made this ski tour on the occasion of my exhibition project "Alpine panoramas - Highlights of Swiss Photography" on behalf of the Nidwaldner Museum in Stans, Switzerland.

The day before I made, together with a mountain guide, an ascent of about 1,000 meters difference in altitude up to the Arben Bivouac and the night passed there with cozy indoor temperatures around 0 degrees Celsius.

In the middle of the night we made the final ascent up to the Aebihorn summit (3,473m/11,394ft) to shoot this panorama during sunrise. Additionally to the cold temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius there were chilly winds of 40-50 km/h.

In short, it was VERY COLD. But experiencing that moment and capturing it made up for all troubles.
