Winter in Irishtown Nature Park

This 360-degree panoramic image was captured on the spillway foot bridge at Irishtown Nature Park, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

The spillway (under the bridge) allows overflow water from a lake to make its way into a brook, even when covered by ice and snow. The lake was the first source of drinking water for the City of Moncton in the 1800's.

The Irishtown Nature Park is one of the largest urban parks in Canada, covering 9 square kilometres. The park is popular with the local population in all seasons. Situated within the Moncton city limits, the park offers walking/hiking/cycling trails, a lake for kayaking and canoeing, and a small museum. Birdwatchers are also keen to visit the park as many birds species are known to inhabit it.

The 2014-2015 winter was marked by a heavy accumulation of snow, as can be seen in the 360-degree panoramic image captured in March 2015. Most trails are maintained year-round to allow easy access to visitors.
