The amazing building you see here didn't always look like this, it had a far more humble beginning as a farm house. Over 35 years and in many stages it was transformed to what you see now for George IV and it was John Nash who was responsible for its Indian style.

After George IV's death his successor King William IV enjoyed frequent visits to Brighton but it was when Queen Victoria took to the throne that it fell out of favour. It was said that it was due to the lack of privacy it offered. After this the government decided to sell the building and luckily for Brighton their petition was accepted to allow the town to buy it.

To now find this building in Brighton presents an amazing contrast in the middle of a modern town. Its somewhere to site and relax and watch the world go by, it’s something that brings an unexpected air of culture into a British sea side town.
