One of the most beautiful market halls in Germany. Art Nouveau style, built between 1912 and 1914, architect Martin Elsaesser. Frescos from Gref and Haebich. On 3.000 square meters daily market fresh fish, meat, spices, vegetables, fruits and flowers. Small restaurant and gallery on the first floor. Destroyed in Second World War and rebuilt 1953.

Eine der schoensten Markthallen Deutschlands, Jugendstil, 1912 bis 1914 von Architekt Martin Elsaesser anstelle der alten Gemuesehalle als Nahrungsmittelboerse und Warenhaus erbaut; Fresken von Gref und Haebich. Auf ueber 3000 Quadratmetern taeglich frische Blumen, Fisch, Fleisch, Gemuese und Obst sowie exotische Fruechte und Gewuerze. Kleines Restaurant und Galerie im 1. Stock mit Blick auf das bunte Treiben. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde sie zerstoert, und erst 1953 war sie vollstaendig wieder hergestellt. Das Gebaeude wurde 1974 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. Nach einem Brand 1993 musste der gesamte Innenraum der Markthalle renoviert werden.
