The English Market This may seem a rather strange name for a fish, meat, fruit and vegetable market in Cork, Ireland. But - what's in a name? This market is a mecca for those who seek an alternative to the 'high street' option. The market traces its history back to 1788. It was redesigned in 1862. But then disaster struck in 1980 when it was almost completely destroyed by fire. And another fire again in 1986, but now lovingly restored. But all is well – and if you are looking for olives, fresh bread, fresh pasta, organic vegetables and meat, fish, cheese, home made chocolates, cakes – just to name a few – then this is the place to come to. On your trip to Cork, include the English Market and take your camera. It is open every day except Sunday. This panorama only shows the Princes Street entrance to this Aladdin's cave.
