Caption
The "Peña de la Cruz" is probably the best point of view over the little town of Béjar, situated in the South of the province of Salamanca, near Extremadura.

The "Sierra de Béjar" —2,420 meters high, in the picture behind the Cross— is the first important mountain range to encounter the wet blowing winds from the Atlantic Ocean, beyond Portugal. This feature. and also the peculiar situation of the smaller mountains around the town that separate it from "La Meseta", gives the region a quite privileged climate, with many days of sun throughout the year, snow in the winter, and not too hot during the summer. It is also a very good point to observe the changing conditions of the weather and the most diverse expressions of the atmosphere, particularly clean since there are no sources of pollution.
