The new football stadium is being built on the location where the former Kirov Stadium was located before it was demolished. The demolition of Kirov Stadium began in the morning of September 7, 2006. The first were demolished lighting poles weighing 220 tons and a height of 72 meters. Date of completion of the stadium has been changed several times. A tentative opening is set for 2017, the same year the arena is slated to host the FIFA Confederations Cup.

If you remember school history textbook, construction of the Colosseum began in 70 AD and was completed in 80 AD.

The next day weather was sunny,
and after work I was able to photograph a view of the constructing stadium from the south.
