Nearly 12 years ago, whilst participating in an archaeological excavation at nearby Bamburgh Castle, I made a day trip to Dunstanburgh Castle and shot a number of panoramas.

I never got around to stitching those scores of images in order to see how they came out, until today (March 23, 2018), and actually had a tough time choosing just one for this WWP theme.

As you can see in this overview perspective, Dunstanburgh Castle lies in ruins. It served various needs in the 14th- and 15th-centuries and apparently fell into disuse gradually, never to recover its former glory.

Once upon a time I used a still camera and took multiple shots to make photospheres, sometimes even taking sets of three images to make HDR versions.

Nowadays, thanks to advancing technology, I use a ball camera with 36 lenses that takes HDR images all at once; it can even be thrown into the air to capture an image or carried on a stick for taking images while moving.
