This is the Coon Rapids, Minnesota side of the Coon Rapids Dam which crosses the Mississippi River. The other side is Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. My spring 2004 WWP entry(the first WWP), I submitted a panorama from the Brooklyn Park Side. Click on the arrow hotspot to see that entry with a more complete description of the area. There were people fishing on both sides of the dam(fishing from the dam is not allowed). Both sides of the dam are parks; the Brooklyn Park side is part of Three Rivers Park District and the Coon Rapids side is part of Anoka County Parks. Note that in the Spring of 2004 the inflatable flood gates where deflated, now they are inflated.
