Here we are in Valencia, on the June Acts 4&5 of Louis Vuitton Cup. This are a series of regattas leading up to the main event in 2007, 32nd America's Cup Match, also hosted in Valencia.

In this panorama wind with 10-12 knots helps ALINGHI -the Defender- to win BMW-ORACLE team in a match race of Act 4. A match race features just one pair of boats dueling for the win.

Act 5, was celebrated next week with fleet races, with all the boats racing against each other at the same time.

But although what we have seen this year may be indicative of what's to come, it will not be conclusive.

Racing in June this year is the first where we have seen all of the 2007 competitors racing. They are 12 teams in the most diverse edition ever with 10 different countries represented.

America's Cup is described as the oldest trophy in sport, and it has become an obsession for some of the most famous, powerful, an exceedingly eccentric characters in the world. It transcends mere sport; rather, it is a story of adventure, ambition, innovation, creativity, money, fame and competition.

Valencia (Spain).

Swiss team ALINGHI claim the Cup in 2003, bringing the trophy to Europe for the first time.

The 26th of November, 2003 the Cup organisers announced this Spanish city on the Mediterranean coast would host the 32nd America's Cup.

Early summer in this part of world yields the best weather for sailing with steady and reliable sea breezes wich in turn are the most important ingredient in creating the spectacle.

Now, a few of the team bases in the port are structurally completed, others will be finished in the summer.

Over 50 shipping containers are required to move the equipment needed by the teams and the race organization.

Each team on the road is a minimun of 40 people, with the bigger teams near 70.

America's Cup.

This story begins a long time ago, 1851 when yacht 'America' had bested the British fleet. Thus was born the America's Cup, named after the boat, rather than the country.

It took 132 years for the Cup to leave the United States, and since then it's been raced for in just three cities: Perth, San Diego and Auckland.

The Yacht Club winning, becomes the Defender, and must race against eligible challenging yacht clubs to defend the trophy.

Louis Vuitton has been an important partner of the America's Cup for over 20 years, it supports the challenger selection series, known as the Louis Vuitton Cup.
