At the end of Beach Rd., alongside the wooden walkway that leads to the beaches off Long Island Sound, there lies a common area called Seaside Gardens. For a decade now a small group of neighbors near the beach have been meeting on the first Saturday of every month to care for their shared garden project. Donations from the neighborhood coupled with the labor of these volunteers ensure that the gardens will continue to thrive for the enjoyment of all.

Seaside Gardens is a Xeriscape Garden and gets no watering other than what is provided from above. Landscape designer Barbara Hageney oversees the project with fellow neighbor Peg Rendl. They select the foliage and plants that best suit this beach environment and the gardens they have created are a wonderful blend of texture and varied yet subtle color.
