The "Bois de Vincennes" is in fact a part of Paris. The boundary for Paris, usually the circular "périphérique", goes a long detour around the Bois de Vincennes, so as to increase the percentage of green areas in Paris.

The 1999 storm uprooted quite a number of trees, and the Bois is still nursing its wounds, with young saplings slowly growing behind fenced areas.
