(EN) The large building in early Art Nouveau style was built in 1902–03 by the architect Gavriil Vasilyevich Baranovsky for the Eliseev Brothers Trade Partnership. Before the Revolution of 1917 the shop was under the control of the merchants of the Eliseev Brothers. From 1917 to the 1990s, the shop was operated by a state company. Today (June 2011) the shop remains empty and closed. But until now, the locals call the shop by its original name "Eliseevsky".

Progenitor Peter Eliseevich Eliseev (1775–1825), a peasant from Yaroslavl Province, opened a greengrocery in Saint Petersburg in 1813. Read full story of the Eliseev Family in the Encyclopedia of Saint Petersburg.
