This panorama is taken from the center of the new 84MW aero derivative combined cycle power plant (power station).

This powerstation provides electricity for the whole of the Isle of Man and can also provide power to the UK through a power cable that runs along the bed of the Irish Sea.

The station has two gas turbine engines that produce 32MW of power each and pass their exhaust gasses through steam generator tubes to drive a steam turbine that produces 23MW of additional power (for free).

The new building has won numerous awards and this shot, taken at night, shows off the 'feature' lighting that cycles through colours making the attractive building a pleasure to look at.

The inside of the plant is extremely quiet when compared to the previous noisy diesel generators.
