We wouldn't have much useful transportation without infrastructure. For roads and runways that often means concrete. I've elected to show an aggregate processing plant which washes and sorts sand and stone, because these are major components of concrete. This one is at Thelen, in Antioch, Illinois. The picture opens on the plant and circles to show piles of different sizes and grades of sand. In the background is the pit where this material is mined. I owe the company (particularly Mary Beth, the lovely lady in the pink hard hat) a big thank you for understanding what I wanted to do and their kindness in making it happen during a busy period. Thelen is a major producer of aggregates and concrete in northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. Their website is http://www.thelensg.com.
