Public transport is today recognized as a civilisation issue that goes far beyond the mere transportation question. It is a critical element in the major societal debates such as climate change, energy efficiency or poverty alleviation. One of the biggest issues facing tomorrows transport will be energy. High quality and effecient regional train transport is helping to reduce the influx of cars into the big urban areas by attracting commuters which used to use the car. Reducing the waste of space for parking, reducing the pullution in the air and reducing noise emissions, while avoiding the waste of precious and unique fossil energy.

The panorama was taken on a Metronom Regional Express between Hamburg and Bremen. Metronom is a private rail operator running these trains at an hourly interval.
