A few years ago, the local government of our province Zeeland had an agreement with the local farmers. For a small fee the farmers would sow the outer rims of their fields with wild flowers. Those rims weren't too productive anyway because the farmers aren't allowed to spray fertilizer near the waterways that divide the farm lands.

The aim of the flowerbeds was twofold: to make the landscape more beautiful and to enrich the habitat of insects, birds, butterflies and small mammals. A brilliant idea and lovely sight!

Alas, the project came to a halt when the farmers and government couldn't agree on the amount of financial compensation anymore. There are still patches of flowers to be found here and there, but I miss the seas of flowers that smiled at me in the old days.

I drove around the province this week for hours, looking for a field big enough to fill a panorama. Just when I was about to give up, I stumbled upon this field. To give the panorama an extra boost for the color theme, I decided to throw in a cheesy photoshop filter.

This one really benefits from being viewed fullscreen, enjoy!
