Hello All...

I "sat out" the past few themes... I have truly been impressed & amazed at all the professional photographer contributors. Sometimes I feel as if the efforts of an amateur photographer such as myself are so far beneath the many professional photographers contributions.

However, this theme of "Performing Arts" has inspired some renewed excitement I have long had for the "craft/art" of using cubic panoramas in innovative ways. I have the fortune to have as a friend, the artist Kathy Ocariz, who is one of the most creative & talented women I have known. She attended an adult ed computer class I taught and used what she learned to create her own web site to display her work.

On her site is a page that shows 60 images of "masks" she painted using her own face as the canvas. Looking in wonder at her work & creativity it came to me to use the medium/technology of cubic QTVR as a "stage," if you will, to digitally present her work... a virtual gallery. And so I am excited to present to you a Virtual Gallery that performs the many faces and artistic talents of my friend Kathy Ocariz

In the words of the Artist, Kathy Ocariz:

"My creative pursuits are without limitations in both methods and medias, with contrasting styles and a vast array of subjects...all infused with brilliant color. Throughout my artistic endeavors, transforming my face with make-up has been a daily creative ritual. In many ways, I have been "painting" my face since my teens; my fair complexion, combined with white hair, eyelashes and brows, makes my face a blank canvas waiting to be brought to life. My application of make-up has never been an attempt to disguise, but rather a tool used to reveal my true self to the world.

As I was approaching my 60th birthday, I suddenly found myself focusing more on my face and exploring my feelings about beauty, youth, and aging...and so began my self-portrait series. My "60 Faces" allowed me to take the notion of painting my face to an extreme in order to expose previously hidden fantasies, dreams, and desires. With each new face painting, I photographed myself and at the completion of all 60 "self-portraits," an eclectic collection of motifs and emotions emerged. The act of actually painting my face, created a sense of self discovery as each new face was revealed. It allowed me to carefully examine my external self as well as internal feelings."

...... We hope you enjoy &
