The Chicago World Music Festival is a week-long, city-wide, multi-venue celebration of the performing arts held at the end of summer each year. As it has for the past eleven years, this year's festival showcased artists and ensembles performing both traditional and contemporary music, dance and theater works from diverse cultures across the world. This year over 50 groups performed at 21 venues across the city, most offering free admission to the public.
Downtown workers and visitors were treated to free, daily lunchtime concerts in architect Frank Gehry's acoustically perfect Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium park. On this day, the local band Guitarra Azul performed original works in their own unique style, perhaps best described as "Rumba-Flamenco," a blend of traditional Spanish flamenco music flavored with Latin, Indian and Arabic percussion undertones above a funky American jazz bass line. The result is a delightful and satisfying international and multi-cultural mix.

This panorama was shot as a hand-held "pole-panorama" using a Nikon D90 camera equipped with a Nikor 10.5mm wide-angle lens in a BoPhoto Panoramic Bracket mounted atop the body of a modified 8 foot (2.5 meter) tall light stand. Images were stiched using PTGui Pro. Additional post-processing was done in Photoshop. QuickTimeVR format output was created using Pano2VR. |
