Without an atmosphere around the earth and without a sun that unevenly heat the earth there would be no wind, and without wind all those sports activities that need the force of the wind, like para carting, wouldn't be possible.
In The Netherlands there is always a lot of wind, especially in the coastal provinces.
Because all beaches in the Netherlands are flat, the size of the beach at low tide is often very large and that is why on the weekends many people from all over the country are traveling to the coast to enjoy a fairly new sport "para carting".
When you take a closer look at the vehicles and the kites in the scene you will understand that para carting is a very dynamic sport.
It is not possible to practise para carting on all beaches because it can be very dangerous for other users of the beach. The reason is obvious, when there is a lot of wind these little carts can drive at amazingly fast speeds, up to 70 km/h and with a very strong wind and a skilled driver even much faster! With such speeds it is very important that para cart drivers have all the space they need to keep it safe.
Luckily for them the isle of Goeree Overflakkee has large beaches that are ideal for their sport, the sand is hard and very flat and it is never crowded at the beaches. They asked, and got, permission from the local government to use a large part of the beach for their fast and sportive activities.
Have fun, Wim.
