The minimal footprint.

The Agios Nikolaos Metamorfosis Chapel is located in the very northern part of Greece, close to Albanian and Fyrom's border.

Its size is surprisingly small—5/6 chairs long!—its area might be less than 7 square meters. The very few visitors entering this orthodox sanctuary are obviously filled with astonishment discovering here frescoes from the Byzantine times, still in good state, witness of a millennium's stories.

Although the place is easy to find, pointed out by a brown official sign, a few people only are daring to leave the main road driving or walking on a hot dusty way, simply lazy to get away from tourist spots. I was myself amazed when I got for the first time into such a strange place, revealing its secrets to me.

So now, every time I'm passing by, I'm asking for the chapel's key to spend an happy hour resting in the shade and in the candles smells with all these holy colour ghosts as temporary friends.

This panorama takes place in a series of pictures, photographic work started a decade ago or more about Greek Orthodoxy.
