The Atmosphere Theme

For the first World Wide Panorama Event of 2007 I decided to climb over 4,000 meters height above sea level and set the lens of my camera just where you can touch the clouds. A place where our atmosphere plays with the elements and pass all the time changing part of the water into vapor, rain, hailstones, ice or snow all year long.

The Place

The Xinantécatl volcano, best known as the Toluca's Snow Peak (Nevado de Toluca in Spanish) is the 4th highest volcano in México and it reaches a height of 4,558 meters over the see level. It is located at 45 kilometers from Toluca City, capital of the Estado de México State and is 135 kilometers from the center of Mexico City, about one hour and a half trip by car.

The enormous and majestic Toluca´s Snow Peak is the only one in the world that allows you to reach its crater all the way by car. Once in the peak you will find two beautiful lagoons known as the Sun and the Moon. Inside them many archeological findings have been made related to sacred ceremonies made by the prehispanic people at that place.

The around the volcano was named a National Park in 1937 and today has an area of 51,000 hectares, one of the most attractive and visited parks in the country.

The Panorama

In this panorama you can see the Sun's lagoon just in the middle of the crater of this big volcano now asleep, also you can admire the walls of the huge crater and catch the clouds going up and down at the will of the wind. Somehow strange this time the Toluca's Snow Peak shows itself without snow. At the distance you can find some parked cars showing how far you can reach without going out of the transport and having to walk.

Hope you like the view !!!
