The Winter X Games is an annual winter sports competition sponsored by ESPN. Over 76,000 people attended the event in 2007 and it was televised in over 190 countries and territories. The Winter X Games, which has been held in Aspen since 2002, regularly attracts the biggest names in snowboarding such as Shaun White, Danny Kass, and Antti Autti.

Shown here is Steve FIsher, the 2007 Men's Snowboard Superpipe gold medalist . Fisher, a member of the US Snowboarding Team also won the 2004 X Games gold medal in the superpipe competition.

My "Best of 2005" WWP entry also featured the X Games Superpipe Competition. (The snowboarder in that panorama, Shaun White, went on to become an Olympic gold medalist in 2006).

I learned a few things between 2005 and 2007. The most important thing was to shoot jpg instead of RAW for action shots. My Canon 20D can only hold 6 RAW files in the buffer vs 23 jpg files. I increased my shutter speed from 1/200 to 1/400 with the aperture at f4 (maximum for that lens) and the ISO 1600. I'd like more light but pictures at ISO 3200 were unusable. I also took more shots of the spectators, giving myself more overlap between the photos.
