This is the world famous Strasburg Rail Road and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, located in Strasburg, PA. Founded in 1832, the Strasburg Rail Road celebrated the 175th Anniversary of its railroad charter in 2007. Precisely when the railroad first turned a wheel is still a matter of patient research, but the earliest timetable found to date indicates Strasburg trains were scheduled as of December 1851. On February 22, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln made a stop at Leaman Place on his inaugural train ride, en route to Lancaster, PA. His four-minute visit brought nearly 5,000 people out to cheer for the President and Mrs. Lincoln. Today, as we look back at their labor of love, the Strasburg Rail Road is one of Lancaster County's most popular tourist attractions - and recognized as one of America's most significant examples of early 20th century railroading.

On the other side of the street is the railroad museum. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania houses one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world. Devoted to preserving and interpreting the broad impact of railroad development on society, the Museum has over 100 trains both indoors and in its outdoors display area.

Also you will notice that an Amish Buggy is passing by (in the opening view). The Lancaster county area is home for hundreds of Amish families. Here we get to see several unique modes of "transportation."
