The Rex Dog Shelter Foundation is one of the best known Hungarian SPAs. It has been working on the reduction of the number of stray animals for 17 years by neutering, microchiping and rehoming.

Beside operating a shelter they also run an education program that helps to change the attitude of  young people towards animals. They opened their animal protection centre (called *Animal*Island*) five years ago which has enabled them to offer over 2,500 animals for adoption since then. In addition, there are nearly 10,000 schoolchildren who have participated in their educational programs.
