Nearly a millennium has gone by and mellowed and crumbled these ancient stones.

Kirkstall Abbey is a ruined medieval Cistercian monastery located to the west of Leeds city centre in West Yorkshire. It was founded c.1152 and it is a Grade 1 listed building. It is set in beautiful grounds which are now a public park on the north bank of the River Aire. The grounds are used for occasional events such as festivals and open-air concerts. Following a renovation programme there is a new visitor centre and a museum.
