If it's the autumn equinox, it must be kites! For the third year running I've found myself on the beach, photographing fantastic performances involving animated fabric held up by nothing more than moving air.

A panorama can capture three dimensions, but what about the fourth, a key component in most performances? One answer is simply to capture multiple moments in time and lay then on top of one another (it's a technique I've used for the WWP before). So here is Paul Thody's performance with a stack of 25 Flexifoil kites, frozen into an airborne sculpture. You can also see glimpses of performances by Les Tatoueurs du Ciel and Team Spectrum, as well as the display of artistic kites.
