Arles Amphitheatre is a Roman amphitheater built around 80-90 with a total length of 450 feet. It could seat about 25,000 spectators for games such as gladiators fights, very famous and appreciated circus games during the Roman Empire.
Nowadays the amphitheater ( Arènes d'Arles in french ) is hosting lots of tauromachy's art shows: corridas ( bullfighting ), courses camargaises (bull races) and other cultural shows like concerts or theater plays.
The Arènes d'Arles has been also inspiring painters, just only quoting the most famous : Vincent van Gogh - who has lived many years in Arles - and Pablo Picasso.
