The "Kroezeboom", - tree with a cross-, is an oak of an estimated age of 700 years. A cross carved in its trunk was a landmark. A "Kroezeboom" also meant a place for jurisdiction. During the Reformation (1632-1732) this was a Holy place for the Roman Catholics. For the farmers the Kroezeboom was the place for their celebrations at the end of the harvesting time. As a remembrance they erected a chapel. The former chapel from 1909 was rebuilt in 1944. Tree-surgeons had to restore this tree several times and applied iron rods in the hollow tree to prevent this oak from splitting apart.
