I chose this spot along the Niagara River because it combines almost all of the previous WWP themes in one place; Energy (the US and Canadian Hydro Power Facilities), Bridges (the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge), Water (the Niagara River), and Sanctuary (the quiet overlook above the river). The date was picked so that the fall foliage colors would be in full bloom.

This Pano was a bit of an adventure to shoot. I hiked south along the US side of the Niagara River on the abandoned historic Niagara Railroad track bed. Since the rail line hasn't been used for over a hundred years, it was reduced to a footpath among the rock falls from the 200' cliff above it. South of the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge it continued along the lower gorge above a sheer 30' drop to the river. This made for some hazardous travel as the rock face and trees don't allow much room to maneuver along the path. When I had approached as near to the U.S. Niagara Power Project as I dared (I didn't want to get picked up by security), I found a small clearing in the rock falls, shot the pano, and then soaked up the ambiance for a while before hiking back out.

This pano was a challenge for me to produce as it was my first multi-row (3 rows x 12 shots) panorama and I don’t have the correct equipment (no pano head) to avoid parallax error in the closer-in parts.
