In the second final play of the Austrian handball-league the young team of the Aon Fivers had to win against the experienced troop of A1 Bregenz for retaining a chance at the championsship title.

Although handball in Austria is by far not as popular as soccer or skiing, the sportshall of the Aon Fivers was bursting full on May, 23rd.

The spectators were not disappointed! The regular end of an extremely thrilling play brought the score 30:30. After the first extension (2x5 minutes) again we had a tie (34:34)!

At least at that time no one of the spectators was sitting on his place. All over the hall the people were standing - supporting their teams with shouting, clapping and making noise with all sorts of "instruments". The mood was singular!

Towards the end of this first extension I shot my pano - in the midst of the Aon Fivers fan club.

Only the second half of the second extension brought the final decision (44:38) and the championsship for A1 Bregenz.
Further informations about the two teams can be obtained at their websites:

Behind the scene : how this panorama was made
First I planned to use a tripod, but being in the crowd there was no chance for it. So the photos were shot holding the camera over my head (using ISO 1600 - which explains the high amount of noise). Sound was recorded with an Edirol R1 (you may see my "sound engineer" - my daughter Julia - in the pano).
