It's rather difficult to make such a choice as 'The Best Pano Of The Year' -or at least so it is to me-, and I am quite lazy too. That's why I put a lot of time in chosing my submission. There were several 'eery' ones in my mind -the kind of work I started after my accidental 'Borders' contribution-, and many other panos that I appreciated for very different reasons, but the hard thing -the decision-... I always postponed.

So I finally went into a kind of simple choice: I'd show the first one -chronologycally- of all those panos I liked best.

This panorama was shot during our last Christmas holiday's week in Mallorca, on January the 3rd., winter had just set up. Temperature was about 4 degrees C, which is a real chill out there, and a steady wind was blowing hard on the island. We decided to spend the day visiting Formentor, on the northwest, and once we were there we couldn't resist and went up to Albercutx, and old vantage point on top of a mountain - the tower you may see in this pano.

The shooting was a bit complicated due to the wind, to my tripod not being very steady -I had to hold it all the time as it risked to be blown away at every moment-, to my standing on a slanted rock and... to my heights making me dizzy!. The clouds moved very fast too, which complicated the stitching part once back at home -safe and sound.

Anyway I feel that the view deserved the try...

Zaila da urteko panoramikarik hoberena aukeratzea, edo gutxienez hala da niretzat. Gainera, alfer xamarra naizenez, denbora aurrera joan eta ni erabaki ezinda aurkitzen nintzen.

Oso gustokoak nituen hainbat 'Eeries', panoramika berezi batzuk egiten hasi nituenak 'Borders-Mugak' deaialdiaren garaian izandako kamara-istripuaren ondorioz, eta beste panoramika mordo bat ere, gustatzen zitzaizkidanak. Azkenean pentsatu nuen horien guztien artean egindako lehena bidaltzea.

Negu hasieran geunden, Mallorcan, lau bat gradutan -fresko xamarra dena bertan- Urtarrilak 3an, hain zuzen ere. Haizea zakar zebilen irla osoan. Iparraldean eguna pasatzeko erabakia hartu genuen, Formentor-en aldean, eta bertan egonda, Albercutx-eraino igotzeko tentazioari ezin genion aurre egin. Horixe da panoramikan ikus daitekeen talai-dorrea.

Argazkiak ateratzea konplikatu xamarra izan zen. Lehen, haizea zela ta, bigarren, nire tripode exkaxa -haizeak edozein momentuan eraman zezakeena zela eta, hirugarren, gainean nengoen arkaitz okerra zela eta, eta laugarren, altuerak zorabioa ematen didala eta. Lainoak abiadura bizian pasatzen ziren, bainan horrek panoramika osatzeko lana zaildu zidan beranduago, etxean.

Dena dela, bistak saiatzea merezi zuelakoan nengoen.
