The Klein Matterhorn (3883 meters above sea level, 12736ft) is the highest sightseeing point in Europe, which is accessible by cableway. The sightseeing platform offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps with a total 38 four-thousand-metre peaks.

The higher you get in the Alps, the more spectacular and more colorful sunrises are. Just before the first sunbeams come out, the whole color spectrum can be seen at the horizon. Shortly after that the first sunlight touches the different summits allround you and colors them in a intense red.

Getting there was not difficult at all, since you can use the cablecar. The first cablecar in the morning arrives at about 9:30 am, so usually there is no possibility to shoot the sunrise. I spent the night in a rescue shelter below the summit to catch this unique panoramic view.

Temperatures of minus 12 degrees Celsius and winds of about 30km per hour (equal to a felt temperature of about minus 24 degrees Celsius) make such adventures a real challenge for your equipment.
