Every Saturday morning groups of runners gather in towns across the world to participate in Park Run. The weekly timed 5k runs provide a free, local event for runners of all ages and ability levels.

Derry City Park Run starts by Foyle Marina on the Western bank of the River Foyle and runs along the river over the Peace Bridge, into St Columb's Park and back on the same route.

Here the runners are turning at the end of the footbridge, their route takes them along a path that goes down and back under the bridge into the Park.

So runners can be seen here coming off the bridge, along the historic battlements in front of Ebrington Square and below going along the path under the bridge into the Park.

I selected this panorama for Best of the Year because 2016 has for me been "The Year of Running". It has included many Saturday mornings with Park Run, Dungiven 10k, Dessies Run 10k, The Walled City 10 mile run, three half Marathons (Larne, Buncrana and Waterside), and Two Marathons (Derry - Walled City marathon and Dublin Marathon).
