Lenabo Forest is a fairly new forest in an area that was once used by the Royal Naval Air Service as an Airship Base between 1914-1919.

The airship base was dismantled after the end of the First World War and the site taken over by the Forestry Commission along with some neighbouring land. The remains of bases and walls can still be found amongst the trees.

Lenabo Forest was sold by the Forestry Commission in the 1990s and has since been planted with several types of deciduous trees including Silver Birch—Betula pendula, Rowan—Sorbus aucuparia, Cherry—Prunus serotina and Sycamore—Acer pseudoplatanus to name but a few.
