Caption
This pano, taken on a gray first day of spring, shows two sleeping markets in one. The larger gray boats are part of one of our local fishing fleets in their winter cradles. The winter storage area of Torrenson Marina is about two weeks away from "ice out" on the lakes and the fishing boats will be among the first launched of the season so they can seek White Fish for restaurants and other outlets. In ever increasing numbers, boat owners will begin the annual task of cleaning, repairing and readying their craft for the spring launch. The docks will be alive with recreational boat owners and their families and friends as they race, fish and otherwise enjoy the peace and fresh air of their sport. Boating, repairing, relaxing, drinking and eating will be the market forces through the active season. Both markets will be active until late fall and the fleet commercial fishing boats will be the last to be placed in the yard to repeat the annual cycle.

Footnote: Today, (3/30/05), the two gray fishing boats were launched. Even though the ice is not gone from the lake, enough has melted near shore for them to motor to their mooring for rigging and preparation of the season.
