Even these willow trees appear to be weeping for spring. It has been a long, record-cold winter here in central New York State.

Cayuga Lake nearly froze completely this year, which it has not done since 1912, over a century ago. Even now, on the first day of "spring," it has a long way to go before we'll be seeing open water again.

Winter here tends to be grey, which can bring on the blues. At this point, the forecast calls for continued cold, but we have our maple trees tapped and expect the sap to fill our buckets soon.
