This was one of my very first 360x180 panoramas, at this time still starting from color slides that I digitalized before stitching using a scanner. It was just shortly before this trip to Japan in 2005 when I bought a fisheye lens – until then I only did cylindrical panoramas. I revisited some of my favorite places from the years I have been living in Japan. Fushimi Inari Taisha is just one of them. It is a famous shrine a bit South of Kyoto and in the hills behind the main building there are kilometers of trails all lined with red torii gates. It is a great place to explore, in particular in the evening when the tourist crowds have left.
