Al-Azhar Park is a 30-acre public park which is located in the heart of Cairo, Egypt.

It was built by the Agha Khan Trust for Culture to be more than a 'green lung' for Cairo's 17 million residents. The project includes renovating the neighbouring historical area of Dar Al-Ahmar and providing support for the low-income Egyptians living in this area by providing skills training, area rehabilitation, microfinance, and support in the areas of health and education.

The park which was opened in 2005, has been choosen as as one of the world's sixty great public spaces by Project for Public Spaces.

You can read and see more about my favourite park on my website.
